AD Code Registration

An AD code, also known as the Authorized Dealer Code, is a unique 14-digit code issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to entities that are authorized to deal in foreign exchange transactions, such as banks, financial institutions, and other authorized dealers.

The AD code is used to identify the entity carrying out the foreign exchange transactions and is mandatory for any cross-border transactions in India. It is also required for transactions such as remittances, exports, imports, and investments in foreign securities, among others.

To obtain an AD code, an entity must submit an application to the RBI, along with the necessary documents and information. The AD code is assigned based on the location and category of the entity, and it must be quoted in all foreign exchange transactions carried out by the entity.

Step to Register AD code:

  1. Visit the ICEGATE website

  2. Click on the "e-Services" tab on the homepage and select "Registration" from the dropdown menu.

  3. Click on the "New Registration" button under the "Customs" section.

  4. Choose the "Authorized Dealer" option and provide the required details such as PAN number, Aadhaar number, email ID, mobile number, etc.

  5. Upload the necessary documents such as PAN card, Aadhaar card, etc. in the prescribed format and size.

  6. Submit the application and note down the reference number for future tracking.

Once the application is processed and approved by the authorities, you will receive an AD code that will enable you to carry out import-export transactions in India. It is advisable to keep track of the status of your application regularly and ensure that all the information and documents provided are accurate and up-to-date.
