FSSAI Registration

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the primary regulatory body responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of food products in India. The FSSAI registration or food license is mandatory for all entities involved in food businesses, including manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and food importers. The FSSAI registration process involves obtaining a unique 14-digit registration or license number, which must be displayed on all food packages and advertisements. The registration process also involves submitting various documents, such as proof of identity, address, and food safety management plan, and undergoing inspections and audits to ensure compliance with FSSAI standards. FSSAI registration is necessary to ensure the safety and quality of food products and to protect public health.

Types of FSSAI Registration

There are three types of FSSAI registration in India, which are:

  1. Basic FSSAI registration: This type of registration is applicable for small food businesses and petty food manufacturers. Those who have an annual turnover of up to Rs. 12 lakhs can apply for a basic FSSAI registration.

  2. State FSSAI registration: This type of registration is applicable for medium-sized food businesses and manufacturers. Those who have an annual turnover of more than Rs. 12 lakhs and up to Rs. 20 crores can apply for a state FSSAI registration.

  3. Central FSSAI registration: This type of registration is applicable for large food businesses and manufacturers. Those who have an annual turnover of more than Rs. 20 crores can apply for a central FSSAI registration.

The FSSAI registration process and requirements may vary depending on the type of registration, but all food businesses must comply with the FSSAI standards and regulations to ensure the safety and quality of their food products.
