The WPC (Wireless Planning & Coordination) is the national broadcasting authority and is part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. It was founded in 1952 and has its headquarters in New Delhi, as well as other regional offices in Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta and Guwahati.

Types of Approvals issued by WPC
The approvals issued by WPC include

Equipment Type Approval (ETA)

Dealer and non-Dealer Possession Licenses (DPL and NDPL)

Import Licenses for radio equipment.
For foreign producers, however, in most cases only the ETA is relevant. WPC certification is used abroad as a synonym for ETA.
