CPCB EPR SSO Migration Update: Move to the Common EPR Portal
CPCB's EPR system is moving toward a Common EPR / Single Sign-On (SSO) platform that brings multiple EPR waste streams under a unified access system.
The transition affects entities that currently use separate EPR portals for different waste streams. Existing registered entities should review the new Common EPR portal, complete the required account/linking process where applicable, and verify that their existing registration and company details are correctly associated with the new profile.
Who should check
Plastic EPR Producers / Importers / Brand Owners, E-Waste EPR Producers, Battery EPR Producers, Tyre EPR Producers, Used Oil EPR entities, and other EPR stakeholders using CPCB portals.
What to do
- Access the Common EPR / SSO portal.
- Create or activate the required SSO profile where applicable.
- Link the existing EPR registration(s) / legacy portal account(s) where required.
- Verify company details, registration details and migrated information.
- Check access to the relevant EPR modules and transaction functions.
- Report any mismatch or issue through the appropriate CPCB support channel.

BIS QCO — Linear Alkyl Benzene
The Linear Alkyl Benzene (Quality Control) Order, 2022 covering IS 12795:2020 has been under temporary suspension — most recently notified on 29 June 2026. While it remains suspended, the QCO is not in force and mandatory BIS certification under it is not currently being enforced.
Manufacturers, importers and traders of linear alkyl benzene should track the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals notifications for the current status before making procurement or compliance decisions.

BIS QCO — Wrought Aluminium Utensils
The Quality Control Order covering wrought aluminium and aluminium alloys for manufacture of utensils (IS 21:1992) is notified and due for implementation, with an implementation date of 1 December 2026.
Manufacturers and importers of wrought aluminium utensils should plan BIS certification under the applicable scheme ahead of the notified implementation date. Separate QCOs in the same aluminium series cover wrought aluminium wire for electrical purposes (IS 2067:1975) and wrought aluminium bars, rods, tubes, sections, plates and sheets for electrical applications (IS 5082:1998), also from 1 December 2026.

BIS QCO — Aluminium Cans for Beverages
The Cookware, Utensils and Cans for Foods and Beverages (Quality Control) Order, 2024 covers aluminium cans for beverages (IS 14407:1996), along with stainless steel utensils, wrought aluminium utensils, stainless steel sinks and round open top sanitary cans for foods and drinks.
Producers and importers of aluminium cans for beverages should review BIS certification requirements under the order — scheme, product-manual grouping and labelling — and verify the latest instructions before acting.

BIS QCO — Specified Electrical Appliances
The Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2026 (S.O. 1739(E) dated 6 April 2026) covers 90 appliance categories — kitchen appliances, dishwashers, ovens, cooking ranges, floor-treatment machines, personal-care appliances, air purifiers, humidifiers and battery/DC-operated appliances — conforming to IS 302 (Part 1): 2024 / IEC 60335-1: 2020.
The order comes into force on 1 October 2026, with later compliance dates for small and micro enterprises. Appliances already covered by other Quality Control Orders are excluded. Manufacturers and importers of the specified appliances should plan BIS certification under the applicable scheme before the date that applies to them.

BIS QCO — HDPE/PP Woven Sacks for Cement Packaging
The HDPE/PP Woven Sacks for Packaging of 50 kg Cement (Quality Control) Order covers IS 17615:2021 for woven sacks used to package 50 kg cement. The Quality Control Order (Textiles) series covering this product was amended by an order notified on 2 January 2026.
Manufacturers and importers of HDPE/PP woven sacks for cement packaging should review BIS certification requirements under the order and verify the latest instructions before acting. Related HDPE/PP woven sack QCOs for foodgrains and sugar packaging (IS 14887:2014, IS 16208:2015, IS 14968:2015 and IS 14252:2015) are already in force under the earlier textiles-series orders.

WPC / DoT — New Authorisation Portal
The Department of Telecommunications has launched a new Authorisation Portal on its eServices platform for filing telecom authorisation applications, including Equipment Type Approval (ETA) filings and related licence and permission services.

CDSCO — CCTV Surveillance Draft
